Pixel Drawing Workflow

You can totally treat this canvas like a perler bead board and use perler bead pattern sheets as reference. Set the canvas to maximum size, select the square brush at the first size — one stroke equals one grid square. If you select the second brush size, one stroke covers nine squares. Drawing it out grid by grid like this is just like doing perler beads! For large areas of the same color you can just fill them in directly, and if you make a mistake you can even select and move pieces around to fix them — this is even more convenient than actual perler beads, and the color options are complete (the only downside is you have to adjust colors by feel yourself, which isn't super convenient). Once everything is drawn, just select the whole thing and scale it down to whatever size you want. Using your finger might not be precise enough — I found a pen refill with a rubber cap to draw with, and it's incredibly smooth. No need to specifically buy a stylus.
