Making Steps
Editorial notes based on creator, source, or submitter information.
For a relaxed small island with 14 residents, make a palm avenue across the island as the main sight, add a commercial street and several small parks, and leave empty space on the left for future Miis. Put sea at both ends of the palm avenue. In the commercial street, use changing posters, different shop sound cues, a market cart in the yard, and small courtyards beside shared residential buildings. For parks, combine conifers, gravel paths, log-style fences and benches, Ferris-wheel cherry blossoms, seesaws, and beach chairs. At night, use lights, campfires, distant city lights, and falling night cherry blossoms for a calm atmosphere.

Recreation Notes ?
Only 14 Miis live on the island, and I finished the entire island design in one go. The main features are a palm boulevard stretching across the island, a shopping street, and several small parks. The left side has been left open for future new Miis to move in. The full map is in the last 3 pics!
After finishing it, the island feels more like a real-life island — it has a genuine lived-in atmosphere.
Both ends of the palm boulevard meet the sea. Walking from east to west at night, you can gradually make out a bustling city in the distance and a bridge glowing with lights, with a ferry occasionally passing over the water 🌉.
The shopping street is lively — the posters out front change every day. Walking up to each shop, you can hear different music playing inside: the click of a camera shutter coming from the photo studio, the sound of a hammer doing carpentry work from the island construction store, the rhythm of a sewing machine pedal from the item workshop, and the creak of worn wooden floorboards from the pawnshop. There are market carts in the courtyard where Miis stop to buy breakfast 🥪.
The small parks are neatly lined with conifer trees, paired with gravel paths and log-style railing benches — very much like the forest parks you find in real cities. Walk close and you can hear birds chirping; Miis come here to read and play under the trees. They also like to gather in the cherry blossom grove by the Ferris wheel entrance, play on the seesaw in the sandbox, and lounge on beach chairs soaking up the sun 🏖️.
Most Miis on the island share housing, and I've built a small courtyard beside each apartment building. Couples living together go on dates under the cherry blossom trees; siblings living together gather in the yard chatting and gossiping; and in the shade, Miis out for a solo walk stop at the vending machine to grab a drink 🧃.
When night falls, the lights come on and bonfires are lit — a completely different scene. The starlight above, the distant glow of the city lights, the night cherry blossoms drifting down — it all gives the island a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Putting the camera on a Mii and slowly wandering the island along with them, I feel genuinely at ease 🌌.
